Did you fall in love today? I did.
Have you heard the Taylor Swift song "Love Story"? It's a love song that is catchy and, to me at least, a lot of fun to listen to and even sing along to.
It got me to thinking about falling in love.
Did I fall in love again today? With my wife? With my kids? With my job? With the other things going on in my life?
Today ... I say emphatically, "Yes!"
I'm really blessed to have a wife like Marie that is also my best friend ... someone that can make me laugh and that I can share all of my thoughts with ... yes, even the ones that make me sound stupid! And my kids ... two great boys that enjoy laughing and playing and sometimes even giving great hugs (yeah, they're young enough to want to do that from time to time!)
Work ... it was a tough day, but I was reminded of all the cool things that I learn and the opportunities that are available to me. Neat company with lots going on.
All that other stuff ... sometimes it feels like noise ... but I was reminded this past weekend of the chance to find God in everything. It is easier to find God in the relationship I have with my wife and kids and the people I see and interact with everyday. One of my boys accompanied me to two meetings tonight and to see his smile and the smiles on others when he was in the room was joy-filling.
If you haven't had the chance to hear that Taylor Swift song, I encourage you to listen to it. When you hear the words, consider that relationship that is either working in spite of the pains and struggles that cause it to not work sometimes or that has brought a great amount of joy to your life. Romeo and Juliet ... the star-crossed lovers that found love despite the pain that it caused them and their families.
I found love today ... again. It's a great experience.
Peace ... to all of you.

Journey
Are you ready to take a trip? Lots of people are traveling for spring break, some are still thinking about it, others (myself included) have made no plans and probably have little desire / intent to go anywhere. But that's not the kind of journey I was talking about.
I'm talking about the journey inside you ... the kind of quest that is both honorable and leads to a better you (or at least a better understanding of you!)
Have you read any good books lately? I've read a few books ... and they've all been good. Anne Rice is next on my list, or maybe I'll re-read Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert. Some of the best pages of fiction I've ever written are contained in that book. Hmmm ... a story about a reluctant messiah. Sounds a lot like a Richard Bach book. Can't think of the title.
I find a lot of spiritual references in books and music ... maybe that's why I at least have an interest in personal development.
Today at church it was an interesting homily on the transfiguration that spoke to me. The priest reminded us that sometimes we fail to see the glory/grace of God because of all the distractions. I have to agree with that. I know that so many of us are tremendously busy leading our lives and shaping the lives of the people around us. We just need to be reminded to see God in all of that. It's a great chance to be reminded of the child of God that we all are.
God bless you. All of you.

Late Friday night (really early Saturday morning) and the music has switched to Joy Division ... nice for after a night of doing some tax returns and researching tax prep software. Need to spend a little time finishing Jacob's pinewood derby car (rather than when I get up in the morning) so that it is ready to be impounded for the races on Sunday.
Everyone else is asleep ... why do I always like to stay up late on Fridays? I stay up late enough during the week trying to get everything done for everyone else. Friday night just seems to be a great time for me. I like to share though.
One year I had an anti-Valentine's Day party. It was a lot of fun. Someone even came. I didn't invite anyone, so that was cool.
I need to post some of my poetry ... or write something new. Let me get used to the idea of this blog and let's see where we end up.
Thanks for being out there ... all three of you.

Musical musings
I've been listening to Depeche Mode and New Order today. I've enjoyed listening to New Order's "Power, Corruption & Lies" and have particularly enjoyed "Leave Me Alone" and "The Beach". For Depeche Mode it's been mostly "The Best of .... Volume 1".
I was looking forward to the new tour by DM and hoped that they would be coming somewhere close to home ... no luck. The closest is to Toronto. Maybe better luck next time.
